Albums
Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums as well as 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 as a result of the collaboration.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to choose a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their album Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was well-received by fans and Toto embarked on an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live album titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.

Drummer David Hungate also left the band following the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their fame, after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
